Thanksgiving Episodes from Black Shows

FUCK CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS AND EVERY PILGRIM.

Now with that out of the way, lets gather ‘round the tv and enjoy some cozy episodes from some of our favorite tv shows.

Living Single:

Season 2 Episode 12 Thanks for Giving 🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃

The gang prepares for Thanksgiving. Scooter says he has to ask Khadijah something.

I love this episode because the actors and characters play so well of each other and you will laugh the entire time.

Available on Hulu

Girlfriends:

Season 1 Episode 9: Fried Turkey 🦃🦃🦃

Joan is one of my least favorite characters of all time but I enjoy this episode when her friends come into the scenes. It reminds me of having a chaotic holiday with your favorite people.

Available on Netflix

The Parkers:

Season 1 Episode 11 - It’s a family affair 🦃🦃🦃🦃

Nikki’s snobby sister visits for Thanksgiving, while Kim and her cousin have some fun and sneak out.

This episode is so fun to watch. The comedic timing of Monique and Countess is almost perfect and the guest stars mix well with the cast.

Season  2 Episode 10 Turkey Day Blues 🦃🦃🦃

Kim dislikes like the way Nikki makes her Thanksgiving stuffing, so Kim spends the holiday elsewhere.

I like this episode even though its one of my least favorites. It hits home because it reminds us to be thankful and remember what the holidays are about and how we can help people who are less fortunate.

Available on Netflix

The Fresh Prince of Bel air:

Season 1 episode 12 Talking Turkey

When Viola Smith visits her son Will in Bel-Air for Thanksgiving, she fears he's not being taught the value of work and turns the household upside-down to correct the situation.

Season 6 Episode 9 There’s the rub

Will must judge who makes the best stuffing in the family. Hilary and Carlton learn the true meaning of Thanksgiving, and Will's cure for Phil's back pain lands them both in jail.

You can’t really go wrong when watching the original Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. I havent watched these episodes as I am writing this so I cannot rate them but best believe I will be watching them as I prepare my food.

Available on Hulu, Max and Fubo tv

Moesha

Season 5 Episode 10 Thanksgiving

With Dee sick in bed with a bad cold, Moesha offers to prepare the Thanksgiving feast, but finds herself engaged in a fierce cooking competition with Hakeem's mother. Meanwhile, Dorian gets the wrong impression about his mother's feelings for him when she comes to visit, leading to an emotional confrontation between the two.

Season 6 Episode 10 All this and turkey too

Q comes home for the Thanksgiving holiday after being on tour for a few months. Q makes a request that upsets Moesha and tests their relationship.

Available on Netflix

Insecure

Season 4 episode 3 Lowkey Thankful 🦃🦃🦃

While Molly's family celebrates Thanksgiving together, Issa and Ahmal decide to do their own thing; when Lawrence joins Friendsgiving at Condola's house, the new couple breaks some awkward ground.

Available on Netflix

A different World

Season  2 Episode 6 - If you like Pilgrim Coladas 🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃

Whitley takes a homesick Kim to a restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner.

I forgot how much I love this show. Kim and Whitley are so fun together and they always end up getting in trouble but they are so charming and likeable. I will have to pay $28 to watch it on Philo.

Season 6 Episode 9 -10: Faith, Hope and Charity Parts 1 and 2 🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃

Dwayne's mother (Patti LaBelle), Mrs. Gilbert (Diahann Carroll) and her young date go to the Waynes' for Thanksgiving.

I LOVEEEEE this episode because the feud between Dwayne’s mother and Whitley’s mother is too funny. Patti and Diahann are my mothers and they have great chemistry on screen. I hated the mother’s boyfriend for obvious reasons but still a great episode.

Half and Half

Season 1 Episode 10: Thanks for Forgiving 🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃

Spencer accidentally divulges one of Mona's intimate secrets to Phyllis. Grandma Thorne plays favorites on Thanksgiving.

I love Half and Half and I love this episode. Every character is so funny in their own way. I recommend this episode for anyone who is new to the series. Diahann Carroll guest stars and you know she is just fantastic. The only thing I hate it that the one time someone favors Mona, all hell breaks loose and it is framed as a bad thing because DeeDee’s feelings are hurt even though throughout the show since the beginning DeeDee is favored by nearly everyone else including strangers and that is just framed as “normal”. But this isn’t an analysis post so let me move on.

Season 3 Episode 9 The big thanks for nothing 🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃

High drama occurs and secrets are revealed at Dee Dee's Thanksgiving dinner party when Spencer's father Ray shows up unexpectedly, Mona comes clean to her father about her feelings of being slighted by him.

This is another hilarious episode. I’ve watched it several times over and I still find myself laughing and enjoying every scene so much. Highly recommend.
